Fischer Computertechnik among the TOP 100 - Innovators in Germany

Fischer Computertechnik GmbH is among the TOP 100 2012 of the outstanding innovators of the German medium-sized enterprises 2012. On 22nd June 2012, TOP 100 together with the mentor Ranga Yogeshwar awarded the most innovative medium-sized enterprises in Germany. TOP 100 does not highlight single product innovations but pays tribute the innovative capacity of the entire company. The jury of the competition which is under the scientific direction of the Vienna University of Economics studied based on different criteria by which measures a company's management supports innovation, such as how consistently new product ideas are implemented and how important are innovations for the company.

For Fischer Computertechnik innovations are the key to profitable growth, nearly one-third of sales come from new innovations and advancements. Fischer Computertechnik develops software for the management of all necessary information for the product publication and is among of the leading innovators in the market for XML authoring and content management systems. 45 highly motivated employees are continuously working to provide advanced editing and publishing solutions for various industries.

The top management gets inspiration for innovation from the market and fosters innovation. One of its most important tasks is to maintain close contact with customers and to listen to their needs. In order to detect customer needs of tomorrow as early as possible, Fischer Computertechnik has created special forums, so-called TIM-RS® workshop discussions, TIM-RS® evening discussions and decision meetings with clients. Therein, the manufacturer sensitizes for current issues and receives inspiration for further development opportunities, so the customers are involved in the innovation process at an early stage.

As a medium-sized enterprise Fischer Computertechnik is able to implement quickly these ideas into new products, which are presented as prototypes by the management in a relaxed atmosphere such as the Chocolate Museum in Cologne or the Literature House in Munich. The most recent example of the intensive, innovative information exchange between Fischer Computertechnik and its customers is the TIM-RS User Meeting 2012 which just took place in the Inselhotel in Constance.

"Innovation cannot be a flash in the pan - it must be planned and implemented consistently", says Dr. Walter Fischer, managing director of Fischer Computertechnik GmbH. He sees himself as a driver of innovation, as somebody who formulates vision, who designs ideas and abuts developments. All Employees are involved. So, they are informed early about innovation ideas, in order to work together on a roadmap that defines the objects regarding content and schedule. "Many of our clients are market leaders and innovation driven by themselves. As software developers we support our customers in their business by our innovative solutions", says Rainer Börsig, Development Manager and authorized representative. And therefore, the company has been successful for almost thirty years.

Prof. Dr. Nikolaus Franke and his team at the Vienna University of Economics have examined the innovation management of 281 medium-sized enterprises. The best of them received the prestigious award "TOP 100". Dr. Walter Fischer is pleased with the ceremony, emphasizing the team effort: "For me, the seal of approval represents a reward for our employees.
