Working document-oriented with TIM

KNAPP uses the XML authoring and content management system TIM and FrameMaker for generating technical publications. The documents are created on a structured basis and have a uniform layout; contents for reuse are modularized and always up-to-date. Technical writers work document-oriented, TIM-RS organizes and manages all information objects such as texts, graphics, tables, and entire information units in the XML information pool.

Consistent processes

Efficient search and retrieval functions in TIM enable the technical writer to enter product and content-related information quickly either into new documents, or into documents to be changed. TIM provides a clear workflow and consistent processes.

Manuals for customers world-wide

At KNAPP, TIM supports the translation management for more than 15 languages. Publications are created in German and translated in-house into English, American English, French, Italian, and Spanish with SDL Trados; further languages are translated externally with SDL Trados. The translated modules are saved as language variants in TIM for reuse.
