wobe-systems uses the XML content management system TIM-RS for creating and updating their numerous publications which vary with regard to target group, content, layout and languages.
All service specifications, user and administration manuals are created in a structured way with FrameMaker® and saved in the information pool of TIM-RS. After pre-translation in TIM-RS an external translation service provider translates the remaining XML modules with the translation memory system SDL Trados® into the necessary languages. TIM-RS saves the XML modules for reuse. For the customer all manuals are available as PDF.
Wolfgang Baer, Managing Director of wobe-systems anticipates a significant saving potential: "TIM-RS facilitates change management with XML modules which reduces the creation time of the various publications considerably. Translation costs decrease by approximately a third already with the first translation, since the service provider does not have to translate an unstructured FrameMaker document like before, and considering document formats, layout, etc. during translation is redundant."
